Words cannot describe what to me happened to me yesterday at the Ironman World Championship in Kona! - After 2 consecutive years (2017/2018) of having mechanical issues during the bike leg the only thing I wanted was to have a clean race without any mechanicals - a race where I could race to my best of my abilities, not really caring about my time nor position. In my mind I though a top 30 in my AG was a reasonable objective and that's what I was looking for. I never imagined I would place 4th in my Age Group and 7th overall amongst the others 1,362 male agegroupers out there! I still can't belive the result! .
Thanks to all Tritons HK and Swim Lab Asia buddies in Kona for the company and support out there before, after and during the race! I guess one of my biggest motivators to go back to Kona is meeting friends I have not seen in a while specially from HK, they really make me feel like home.
Special thanks to AM @funkymunkyhk and Fen @fenellang - my HK family and swim coaches @swimlabhk - Probably the most patient coaches on earth! Thanks for not giving up on me! Swim training has made a big impact not only in my swim time but also on my run and bike plus Believe it or not, I'm finally starting to enjoy swimming!
